Executive Summary: Established in 2018, SkyDrive is a Tokyo-based start-up which focuses on the development of an electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL), or flying car. It was founded mainly by members of a voluntary group called “Cartivator,” a pro-bono organization formed in 2014 also aimed at developing a flying car. With engineers in the fields of aircraft, drones, and automobiles, SkyDrive intends to launch sales in 2023 and mass production in 2026. They are backed by the Japanese government and various private enterprises which share their vision of bringing the flying car into realization. SkyDrive’s annual income is currently undisclosed.
