Samsung Expands AI Home

Akihabara News — Samsung Electronics has announced a significant expansion of its “Screens Everywhere” vision by introducing advanced screen technology to a wider array of home appliances. These new features will be showcased at CES 2025, highlighting Samsung’s commitment to integrating smart technology into daily life.

Jeong Seung Moon, EVP and Head of the R&D Team for Digital Appliances Business at Samsung Electronics, emphasized the company’s aim to enhance consumer usability and options through these innovations. “We have been leading the development of screen appliances to elevate our consumers’ experiences with innovative features and functionalities,” he stated.

Samsung is enhancing the kitchen experience with a new 9-inch AI Home screen on its refrigerators, complementing the larger 21.5-inch and 32-inch Family Hubs already available. For those seeking a more compact solution, this smaller screen still offers advanced features like voice control through Bixby, Samsung’s AI assistant, allowing users to manage appliance settings with simple voice commands.

Similarly, the Bespoke Wall Oven in North America will now come equipped with a 7-inch AI Home screen. This upgrade transforms the oven into not just a cooking device but also a control hub for other smart home devices via the SmartThings platform. The oven’s AI Pro Cooking feature has been enhanced to recognize ingredients and recommend recipes, now including a ‘Customized Cook’ option where users can save their frequently used recipes.

In the laundry sector, the Bespoke AI Laundry Combo and the new Bespoke AI Washer and Dryer set will include 7-inch AI Home screens. These screens provide real-time updates on washing cycles, energy consumption, and intuitive menu navigation, making laundry management more efficient. Some markets will also see a 4.3-inch screen variant, catering to different space and feature requirements.

A key feature across these appliances is the Map View, which allows users to control and monitor all connected devices from one screen. This integration turns these appliances into central hubs for managing home environments, from adjusting the temperature on an air conditioner to activating a robot vacuum, all with ease from the kitchen or laundry room.

These advancements are not just about control; they also introduce entertainment possibilities, turning kitchen and laundry appliances into multimedia centers. With an internet connection, users can enjoy entertainment options or check the weather, making everyday tasks more engaging and informative.

This expansion of AI Home screens across Samsung’s appliance lineup signifies a step towards a more interconnected and user-friendly smart home ecosystem, where appliances do more than their primary function, becoming integral parts of daily life management.
