Executive Summary: NTTe-Sports was established in January 2020 by Nippon Telegraph and Telephone East Corporation (NTT East). NTTe-Sports was founded as an esports firm that would make use of 5G networks and artificial intelligence (AI) to provide support for e-sports tournaments. NTTe-Sports strives to add new value to e-sports by utilizing high-quality communication networks and advanced ICT solutions. They state that through their plan is to create an e-sports facility business, along with other ventures, that create a new culture in e-sports to vitalize the new industry. As of August 2020, NTTe-Sports has opened three facilities for new projects. The first facility is eXe Field Akiba, opened as an exchange facility that seeks to influence gaming culture through the “ICT x e-sports” project in Akihabara. The second facility is Unican, a support service that promotes educational programs with professional gamers and provides dedicated solutions in collaboration with schools and local governments. The last facility is eXeLAB, which promotes learning about the building of platforms and aims to create a social environment for people to play e-sports together. NTTe-Sports’ income is currently undetermined.
