Bonsai Lab, Inc. has released the reasonably-priced compact 3D printer BS01 on April 1.

In December, 2013, 3D printer BS01 was sold for 3 weeks only at the cloud funding site "kibidango". It collected the targeted amount of money after just 2 days, and reached about ¥10,500,000 funding in 3 weeks, an amount about 5 times more than their targeted amount.

Panasonic is going to release 2 new LCD TV models from their VIERA series, 50-inch model "TH-50AS630" for ¥175,000 and 42-inch model "TH-42AS600" for ¥135,000.

Today, Japanese consumption tax increased for the first time in 17 years in order to cover growing social security costs due to an aging population.

The tax rate was raised to 8% from 5%  which, it is estimated, will raise an extra JPY 5 trillion (USD 50 billion) in tax revenue for the government in 2014 and an extra JPY 8 trillion in tax revenue in 2015.

Yahoo announced that it will acquire mobile internet service provider, eAccess, from SoftBank for JPY 324 billion (about USD 3.2 billion). eAccess is going to merge with Willcom, a mobile service provider, on June 1 in a pre-planned merger and then Yahoo is going to get 99.59% of the merged company, called Y!mobile, on June 2.

The convenience store chain, FamilyMart started accepting advanced orders for the Hatsune Miku Original Digital Piano by KORG (model SP-280F). This product is a collaboration between the Japanese musical instrument manufacture KORG and FamilyMart.

The Hatsune Miku Original Digital Piano by KORG is made based on KORG's full-fledged digital piano SP-280 and colored in Hatsune Miku colors. It plays 30 different kinds of sounds.


Panasonic just announced their new 4K wearable video camera HX-A500 in Europe and they are going to release there sometime in May.

HX-A500 is able to shoot 4K videos (3820x2160, 25fps). It features a new lens, the image processor Crystal Engine Pro+, and backlight CMOS sensor.
