On July 1 at 3pm, new company - VAIO Corporation - was established after Sony completed transferring their VAIO brand PC business to the Tokyo-based investment fund, Japan Industrial Partners, Inc (JIP).

On their big day, VAIO Corporation unveiled 3 new PC models and started accepting the advanced orders as well. We will talk about specs and appearances of those new models later.

Yahoo announced that it will acquire mobile internet service provider, eAccess, from SoftBank for JPY 324 billion (about USD 3.2 billion). eAccess is going to merge with Willcom, a mobile service provider, on June 1 in a pre-planned merger and then Yahoo is going to get 99.59% of the merged company, called Y!mobile, on June 2.

Sony has just delivered the news release confirming that they are going to transfer their VAIO brand PC business to the Tokyo-based investment fund, Japan Industrial Partners, Inc (JIP).

No details were released regarding the monetary value of the deal. There was also no mention of any joint venture or dual ownership of a holding company with JIP for the VAIO PC business.
