As part of a project to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Keio University’s Faculty of Science and Technology, the University has started an innovative research project involving the industrial, government, and academic sectors. This project is called the Keio Innovation Foundry, or KIF.
[ALERT: MORE DORKY THAN DORKY - ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK] At JIMTOF 2014, Kitagawa Iron Works exhibited the DLL chuck, a new chuck that eliminates the need for setup by further enhancing the conventional jaw based parallel draw-down type chuck that secures a workpiece to chuck surface.
At JIMTOF 2014, Sugino Machine unveiled the “JCC503 Robo”, a CNC precision washer that positions parts with a numerically-controlled robotic arm and utilizes a high pressure washer to remove chips as small as 0.6 mm generated during machining processes.
Hakko Electronics developed the V9 series with a so-called VPN router function built into a programmable display device as a virtual dedicated line, and launched the “Web Machine Interface” service to pursue the cause of equipment and machinery abnormalities from a remote location.
At FOOMA Japan 2014, Taiyo Seiki exhibited its COM JD Series of automatic taping Machines. The JD Series features patented mechanisms including an inertia prevention system. Due to such unique mechanisms, this series ensures easy and efficient taping for both film and paper tapes up to 30 mm wide.
Innami Factory has developed a new type of automated packaging machine, the Ecomailpack IF-EMP450. This machine automatically packs products into cardboard envelopes for mailing, without needing shock-absorbing material.

Izushi has developed the Kinglock Nut, which achieves tight fastening through an innovative new structure and surface, unlike those in conventional nuts.

Chukyo has developed the Eco Helix, a twisted shaped PCD helical end mill with blade edges that exhibit minimal cutting resistance when machining parts.
