Executive Summary: Suzuki Motor Corporation is a Japanese multinational manufacturer of automobiles, motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles, outboard marine engines, wheelchairs, and a variety of internal combustion engines. Suzuki was founded by Michio Suzuki in 1909 with the establishment of Suzuki Loom Works. By 1949, it was listed on the Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya stock exchanges. Three years later it entered the motor vehicle industry with its Power Free 36cc, 2-cycle auxiliary bicycle engine. In 1954, it changed its official company name to “Suzuki Motor Co.” In the following year, it assisted the take-off of Japan’s mini-vehicle age with the debut of Suzulight 360cc. Its internationally recognized “S” logo was adopted in 1958. Between 1970 and 2000, Suzuki entered the medical equipment, generator, and general-purpose engine fields. Overseas car production began in 1970 with the Jimmy 4×4 model in Pakistan. Nine years later, the company won its 10th consecutive championship at the World Motorcross Grand Prix 125. In 1997, all existing Suzuki plants within Japan were granted the ISO9002 quality-assurance certification and won an International Marine Trades Exhibit and Convention Innovation Award. In 2020, Suzuki developed the world’s first microplastic collecting device for outboard motors. The company is currently considered to be one of the top auto manufacturers in the world. Its annual income is in the range of US$25 billion.
