Research on fabrication of micro-optical resonators that can enclose light

As part of a project to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Keio University’s Faculty of Science and Technology, the University has started an innovative research project involving the industrial, government, and academic sectors. This project is called the Keio Innovation Foundry, or KIF. Its participants have formed a consortium, to co-develop technologies from the Faculty of Science and Technology that are close to having commercial applications. The aim is to pursue a diverse range of joint research, with lively interchange among researchers in all three sectors.

Olympus - Cylindrical interchangeable lens camera "Olympus Air A01"

Olympus announced the release date of their new cylindrical Micro Four Thirds interchangeable lens camera "Olympus Air A01."

It will be released on March 25, only in Japan.

The Olympus Air A01 has all normal camera functionality such as an effective 16.05MP 4/3-inch LiveMOS image sensor and the TruePicVII image processor in its body, but a smartphone is to be attached and used as the camera's monitor.  

Ring-shaped wearable device "Ring ZERO" for about $140

Logbar has started accepting orders for the latest version of their ring-shaped wearable device, the Ring, at Amazon Japan.

The Ring device detects your finger movements and controls multiple functions on your smartphone. There are default gestures assigned depending on different actions, for example, drawing a triangle in the air plays or pauses music and drawing a circle takes a photo.  

Attack on Titan in Kansai-dialect

Now, volume 1 of Kansai-ben (Japanese spoken in the dialect of the Kansai region) version of the Attack on Titan manga available for free at e-book stores.

Kansai-ben is fun, casual and sounds more friendly than the standard Japanese language. If you want to learn Kansai-ben, it will be cool to learn it from Attack on Titan.
