At Keio University, the Nishi Laboratory, in the Department of System Design Engineering (Faculty of Science and Technology), is doing research on how far-reaching communication networks, primarily involving the Internet and various devices, could help to change society.

Y!mobile to release Japan's first in-vehicle Wi-Fi router

Y!mobile announced the release of Huawei's in-vehicle Wi-Fi router (404HW)

The Device goes on sale March 26.

The 404HW will be Japan's first in-vehicle Wi-Fi router. Just by inserting it into a cigarette socket, you are able to have a Wi-Fi environment in your car. It even allows you to charge an external device such as a smartphone through the router using a USB cable.

Leather case for Sony's mirrorless α7 Ⅱ camera

K Company, a Japanese retailer of camera accessories, has released a gorgeous leather camera case for the α7 II (Alpha 7 Mark II).

It is sold for ¥16,000 (~$133), and the product name is Genine Leather Camera Half Case LE-HCSA7 II.

Live action movie Attack on Titan unveils its first teaser

The first teaser for the live action Attack on Titan movie was unveiled.

The official 30 second teaser was aired on some TV shows in Japan this morning, but it hasn't yet been uploaded on the official website for the movie.

Although there is no clean movie trailer available yet, someone posted footage from one of the TV shows on Youtube. Check it out and you can watch the teaser after 58 seconds.

Research on fabrication of micro-optical resonators that can enclose light

As part of a project to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Keio University’s Faculty of Science and Technology, the University has started an innovative research project involving the industrial, government, and academic sectors. This project is called the Keio Innovation Foundry, or KIF. Its participants have formed a consortium, to co-develop technologies from the Faculty of Science and Technology that are close to having commercial applications. The aim is to pursue a diverse range of joint research, with lively interchange among researchers in all three sectors.
