See-through projection display with over 80% transmittance levels under development

 

Pioneer is currently developing a see-through projection system, which projects an image from behind onto a transmissive transparent display.

The brightness and transmittance levels are higher than when using a transmissive LCD panel, and Pioneer expects it to be used as a new form of digital signage in storefront windows, combining video projection with traditional window dressing.

Since last financial year (ended March 31, 2013), three newcomers (GungHo, DeNA, and GREE) combined achieved higher operating income and higher net income than all 9 iconic Japanese game companies (Nintendo + SONY-Games + SegaSammy + BandaiNamco + Konami + TakaraTomy + SquareEnix + Capcom + TecmoKoei) combined.

While the newcomer’s revenues are increasing (except for GREE), the traditional 9 game companies’ revenues peaked in 2008, and have been falling rapidly ever since.

Sony - 9.9mm ultra-thin 11.6 inch tablet "VAIO Tap 11"


"VAIO Tap 11" is a 9.9mm ultra-thin 11.6 inch Windows tablet featuring the "OmniBalance design" found in the "Xperia" series. It will be released from Sony on November 1st.

In this thin body, there are full PC functionalities such as 4th generation intel Core processor, touch/digitizer pen functionality, full HD display (1,920×1,080 dots), high-performance camera, and a built-in stand to allow it to stand on its own, etc.

Sony - Note PC "VAIO Fit A" series that changes shape in 3 ways

 

One of Sony's most remarkable new products for 2013 Autumn and Winter is the notebook PC "VAIO Fit A" series.

It features a multi-flip hinge located at the middle of the top of the panel. By rotating the panel center around the hinge, it can be used in 3 ways: "Keyboard mode" when you want to use it just as a regular notebook PC, "View mode" that allows the screen to face toward other people, for example when you give a presentation, and "Tablet mode".

 

Nikon - D610 - Compact digital single reflex camera with full size sensor


Nikon announced that they are going to start selling a new compact digital single reflex camera model with full size sensor - "D610" - on October 19.

Major features such as full size sensor, image processor, AF sensor, etc. are the same as the previous model "D600", however, continuous shooting speed was improved to 6fps and the new "Silent Continuous Shooting Mode", that enables continuous shooting at 3fps in the silent mode, was added.
