JR Debuts Evangelion Bullet Train
The West Japan Railway Company unveiled the interior images of the Evangelion Shinkansen (bullet train), the 500 TYPE EVA. It will run for a limited time only.
The 500 TYPE EVA is a project to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Sanyo Shinkansen (the bullet train network between Osaka and Fukuoka) and the 20th anniversary of the TV animation series, Neon Genesis Evangelion. It will do round-trips between Shin-Osaka station (Osaka) and Hakata station (Fukuoka) once a day from November 17 through sometime in March 2017.

Two out of the 8 cars will have special Evangelion-like decoration. In the first car, a full-scale cockpit of an Evangelion robo-thingy will be installed and the passengers will be able to get on in (advanced reservation required). The second car provides regular passenger seats, although they are designed to match the Evangelion theme. These seats will be non-reserved so that all passengers can enjoy the space.
