Nintendo & DeNA team up for developing gaming app for smartphones

Today, Nintendo and DeNA announced that they have entered into a business and capital alliance.

They are planning to jointly develop gaming applications using Nintendo's intellectual property such as software and characters. They intend to open related services by this autumn.

Nintendo has powerful gaming titles and characters, and DeNA has know-how with the internet services and the development of games for smartphones. They will team up to try to make something "awesome" and introduce it to the global market.

The deal will be finalized on April 2. Nintendo will take 10% of DeNA's issued shares (¥22 billion/~$182 million), and, in exchange for that, DeNA will take 1.24% of Nintendo’s issued shares for the same price.

Would be fun to see some of this on mobile, yeah?

Very Big Game Show
If you haven't been to Makuhari Messe before, know that 'convention center' doesn't quite do it justice. Though he's not regarded in the same fashion, considering the impact this one guy has had on the entirety of humanity, in our opinion it's completely reasonable to place Baer among the ranks of your Steve Jobses, Bill Gateses, and Jeff Bezoses.
