Fujitsu - Wearable device to sense a driver's sleepiness
Fujitsu announced the development of a wearable device FUJITSU Vehicle ICT FEELythm to read signals of a driver's sleepiness by his pulse wave.
It's planned be released to the public sometime in March.
FUJITSU Vehicle ICT FEELythm is a device aimed at transport companies such as bus, truck and taxi companies. It consists of 2 devices: a wearable device to clip on the a driver's ear that measures his pulse wave and autonomic nerve activity, and a Bluetooth compliant receiver to analyze the data and warn him with voice or vibration.
By pairing up the receiver and an additional on-board device such as a digital tachograph system, an operations manager is able to know the situation of drivers in a real-time basis.
Fujitsu is also considering adding the same function for smartphone to act as the receiver.
