Samsung's newest tablet, the GALAXY Tab S 8.4, was in full display at the Samsung-heavy NTT docomo Winter/Spring 2015 product event.

First off, it looks like a compact laptop PC, but it’s actually a tablet that comes with a detachable Bluetooth keyboard. The GALAXY Tab S 8.4 will be released in mid-February and the price will be around ¥20,000 (~$200).

To use the GALAXY Tab S 8.4 as a laptop PC, as with the numerous add-on tablet keyboards on the market, you just set the tablet part on the gap of the Bluetooth keyboard (the angle of the screen is not adjustable). When not in use, the tablet and keyboard can be combined together and you can keep them compact in your bag. The keyboard has a battery built-in and needs to be charged through microUSB.

The GALAXY Tab S 8.4 has an 8.4-inch OEL WQXGA display (2560x1600), 2.3GHz quadcore Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8974 CPU, 3GB memory, 32GB of storage, a 4,900mAh built-in battery, 8MP main camera, and 2.1MP front camera. It supports Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and GSM, is mobile wallet capable, waterproof/dustproof, and employes infrared data communication and DLNA/DTCP-IP/DTCP+ (but no NFC). Size: 213×126×6.6mm - Weight: 298g

The celebrity guests at NTT docomo's event, Ken Watanabe, Satomi Ishihara, and Maki Horikita looked too busy taking selifies with Samsung's new curved-edge Samsung GALAXY Note Edge to talk about the new tablet. But, for us it was also one of the most interesting products we saw.

It is reportedly to be known as "Galaxy Gear" and is supposedly going to be a "concept device".  What exactly this means is not completely known - it is not clear if the watch will be ready for shipment or if what will be shown is a prototype of what it will be.

Other rumors of whether the watch will be a flexible design or not have not been confirmed.

Smartphone projectors? Laptop projectors? Pen projectors? Tablet projectors? Well, maybe there’s a market (maybe), but perfecting a practical mini-projector has been perennially problematic. Japanese and Polish researchers could have an answer: ditch the lenses and use holographic zoom.

Samsung announced the release of the Wi-Fi version of their Android tablet GALAXY Tab S in Japan. Its 10.5-inch and 8.4-inch Wi-Fi models will go on sale on August 1.

Yesterday, we wrote about Samsung's new wearable devices Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo that connect to make phone calls, play music or take photos. However, Gear Fit, which Samsung has also introduced at MWC 2014 (Mobile World Congress 2014), doesn't have any functions like that.
