Today We Want: ATTACK ON TITAN 2015 CALENDAR
World’s Most Popular Manga/Anime Gets a Calendar!
We said it before: the popularity ranking might be debatable, but there’s no doubt that Hajime Isayama’s now 5-year-old serial - his first at that - certainly has been the most visible franchise of the past year.
In our opinion, it’s something of an irony that Attack on Titan has reached the level of notoriety and commercial penetration that it has. The complicated, nuanced, at times disturbing, morally muddled work is not something one would expect to be...widely marketable - you know, what with all that pseudo-cannibalism, dismemberment, slavery issues, the apocalypse, and like, guts and stuff. Nevertheless, the Titans and their human victims/persecutors are splashed all over marketing campaigns from fast food to Chocoballs, and a live-action movie is in production.
American Teens React to Attack on Titan
With that kind of popularity, naturally there’s an abundance of toys, promo campaigns, collectibles, and the newest member of the AOT merchandizing family: the 2015 Attack on Titan Calendar - now available at Tokyo Otaku Mode:
2015 Attack on Titan Calendar
TOM’s official description:
“This Attack on Titan 2015 calendar includes fabulous art that originally appeared in the series. Fans are sure to recognize the many familiar scenes and characters! A cool part about this calendar is that those in certain regions can download the Attack on Titan Digital Sticker application for Android smartphones and iPhones and then scan popular characters’ birthdays featured on the calendar to receive digital stickers. Even if you’re unable to obtain the digital stickers though, this Attack on Titan calendar is an easy way to decorate your space and enjoy this heroic series all year long!”
