Ricoh Imaging - Palm-sized mirrorless interchangeable lens camera PENTAX Q-S1

Ricoh Imaging announced the release of the latest palm-sized mirrorless interchangeable lens digital camera PENTAX Q-S1. Release date is August 5th.

You will be able to buy:

  • Zoom Lens Kit (Camera and "PENTAX-02 STANDARD ZOOM" lens) - About ¥50,000
  • Double Zoom Kit (Camera and 2 lenses: "PENTAX-02 STANDARD ZOOM" and "PENTAX-06 TELEPHOTO ZOOM") - About ¥70,000


Ricoh Imaging has refreshed the look of the PENTAX Q-S1 and it looks more "high-class" compared with the previous model PENTAX Q7. The PENTAX Q-S1 has leather material on the front part and aluminum quick dial and grip while the PENTAX Q7 has rubber material.

PENTAX Q-S1 has an effective 12.4MP 1/1.7-inch backside illumination CMOS sensor and Q ENGINE image processor, which boost its ISO sensitivity up to ISO12800. There is a 3-inch LCD monitor and an image stabilization mechanism by gyro sensor called "SR (Shake Reduction)".

You can choose your favorite color combination out of 5 body colors and 8 front sheet colors, which makes 38 different combinations in addition to the regular 4 models above. The price will be the same as the regular models.

Mirrorless interchangeable lens camera - α5100 - will be released by Sony on September 5.

 

Panasonic has announced the Lumix GM, an ultra compact 16MP Micro Four Thirds camera, which will be released in Japan in late November.

"This camera uses the same sensor and engine as the GX7 which was released last month. The GX' features extremely high image quality and has received various awards around the world. We have packed the high image quality of the GX7 into this camera."

"The compact body is made of magnesium alloy, giving it a very robust feeling."

Sigma finally announced the release day of their uniquely-shaped digital camera SIGMA dp2 Quattro. It will be out for 110,000 yen on June 27.

Sigma originally debuted the dp2 Quattro in February 2014, and AkihabaraNews had an opportunity to interview one of Sigma's staff at the camera & photo show CP+ which took place in February as well (Check the link below!).

Ricoh Imaging sent out a press release to announce that the release date of their popular upcoming PENTAX K-3 Prestige Edition is changed to August 29. It was originally announced to be out on August 8.

The date change happened due to a procurement delay of the product's parts.

Olympus is going to release STYLUS SH-1 for about ¥40,000 from its compact digital camera "OLYMPUS STYLUS" series in late April.

The new STYLUS SH-1 has an exterior design similar to that of Olympus's popular mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera series OLYMPUS PEN.

Panasonic officially announced that their new mirrorless camera LUMIX DMC-GH4, which is able to shoot 4K video, will be released on April 24 for the following price:  

  • Body (LUMIX DMC-GH4) - About ¥170,000
  • Lens Kit (DMC-GH4 and the lens "LUMIX G VARIO 14-140mm/F3.5-5.6 ASPH./POWER.") - About ¥230,000

Good news coming from Olympus.

Olympus released a press release today in which they apologized about a short supply of their new camera's lens kit - "OLYMPUS OM-D E-M1 12-40mmF2.8 Lens Kit" - that is scheduled to be out on October 19.

The reason for the shortage is that they have gotten more orders than expected.

Price: ¥219,800 (including 3-Year warranty)

 

 

Olympus just announced that they are going to release a compact digital camera specialized for taking photos at construction sites - OLYMPUS STYLUS TG-3 工一郎 (pronounced as Koichiro in Japanese) - sometime in July.

From Canon's compact digital camera IXY series, the new IXY 130 will be released on August 7.

IXY 130 is only 22.1mm-thick. It features an optical 8X zoom lens covering a range of 28-224mm (35mm equivalent), and the Progressive Fine Zoom function allows you to shoot in 16X zoom.

There is an optical image stabilizer function called Multi Scene IS that detects scenes and offers the image stabilizing effect that is best for the scene.
 

Ricoh Imaging unveiled their new medium format camera "PENTAX 645Z" last month. Today they announced that they are going to release it on June 27.

The estimated price is 864,000 yen. The price seems reasonable when compared to other products with the same image sensor.
