Tilt-Shift Time Lapse Tokyo Diorama (VIDEO) - AkihabaraNews.com

darwinfish105 Throws Down Again
We’re really starting to fall in love with this guy’s work. We shared some of his giant robot photography last year, totally dug a Panasonic GH4 time lapse piece from a few months back, and earlier this month, he made our minds go all rubbery with the Inception/Blade Runner lovechild known as Mirrored Tokyo. And today...heeeeee’s back.

Tokyo Bay: Where all the Stuff Comes & Goes
The title of this particular video is Telecom Center Observatory Tilt Shift, and being that it’s located right in the beating heart of Tokyo Bay, the Tokyo Telecom Center is an excellent place to see ships, trucks, containers - the grandest form of grand-scale commerce in action; tilt-shifted and time lapsed. And although this video’s subject is the frantic, gargantuan business of one of the world’s most active and vital industrial ports, it all looks like toys.

Because Tilt-Shift & Time Lapse
And what is that, exactly? Well, it’s this kind of photography where you tilt/shift a camera’s focal point, and then maybe shoot for a really long time, and then speed it up to lapse the time. Taken from afar, in this case with a Sony Alpha NEX-6 (details, specs, prices), this method makes things look tiny and cute and softens much of the edges and most of the colors.

Yes, that is a total cop-out explanation, but come on now - if you really need to know the fine print, then you’re probably a photographer and that means you probably already know. If you’re not a photographer, but still want to know, then you probably should become a photographer.

See what we did there?

Enjoy the video!

Beautifully Cloudy Summer Days in Tokyo (4K VIDEO)
It can't be all sunshine and kittens and happiness everyday here in the big, big city, but that certainly doesn't mean that beauty is hard to find on dreary days. darwinfish105's latest illustrates this perfectly with some wide-perspective, time-lapsed, Ultra-HD 4K eye candy.

That crazy Video Head Guy, seen in cinemas across Japan, will be sold as a hardcore figure doll!

If you have been to a movie cinema in Japan in the past several years, after the previews, before the movie starts, perhaps you have seen a pantomiming guy with a video camera head - the bad guy who is secretly taking a video of the movie in the movie theater!

I personally feel spooky every time I see his dancing in the theater. Am I the only person who feels that way?

TokyoStreetView: Matsumoto Castle (4K VIDEO)
Built in the 16th century, Matsumoto Castle is unlike many other Japanese castles in that it is built on a plain rather than on a hill or mountain top, and it is surrounded by a picturesque moat. The castle is either the second or third most beautiful castle in Japan, and to be fair, we cannot disagree either way!

What’s probably lost on most viewers around the world is that commercials like these aren’t evidence of a widespread, built-in cultural bizarreness. Nope, they’re much more about advertisers and ad agencies trying to out-weird each other.
