BIG-ASS GALLERY #3 - 2014 Tokyo International Toy Show

That's Right, Yet Another (another) Big-Ass Gallery of Really Great Photos. Of Toys
Last month, the 2014 Tokyo International Toy Show - an event with the best or worst acronym ever, you decide - was held at the Tokyo Big Sight tradeshow and conference center out in Tokyo Bay. The venue is huge, the show is huge. It's literally and figuratively awesome.

The show is also filled with screeching children and cringeworthy, borderline creepy marketing tactics that can make a human ashamed to be one. Among this year's traumatized attendees was AkihabaraNews' Senior Contributor and Panasonic GH3 Symbiote Nayalan MoodleyDespite his icky feelings from being around so much happiness, he shot some amazing photos. A lot of them.

And so, thanks to our brave photographer's perseverance through the minefield of overwhelming joy and glee, we present here #3 of 3 BIG-ASS GALLERIES. You'll find the gallery links and Nayalan's video essay below - ENJOY!

Some Event Background:

"The Tokyo Toy Show is Japan’s most important fair for toys and has existed since 1962 – in various forms and with different names. The motto of the event is "EnterTOYment - toys make the world smile". Besides games, dolls and plush products, the product groups in Tokyo include seasonal and electronic toys. The event is divided into two parts: only trade visitors are admitted on the first two days, whereas end consumers are also welcome on the last two days. The Tokyo Toy Show in 2013 took place in the Tokyo Big Sight Exhibition Center from 13 to 16 June. Overall, 18.738 trade visitors and 140.573 end-consumers attended the fair."   -Via World of Toys

We picked out our 15 favorite shots to share, but do click through if you want more, more, more.

The Rides of Tokyo Auto Salon (BIG-ASS GALLERY #1)
This year saw a marked increase in non-Japanese cars on the show floor, especially from the bigger houses. With the exception of the 86 and the GT-R, the majority of Japanese tuned vehicles were the same mid-nineties to early-naughties classics (and we have a big-ass gallery of them!).

"Human Accident" - AkihabaraNews.com

It was approaching 4pm on a Monday afternoon in December last year, and I had just finished an interview with a company in Kawaguchi City, Saitama Prefecture, just outside Tokyo. It was time to head back into the city, but when I arrived at Nishi-Kawaguchi train station and saw the mass of emergency vehicles lined up outside, I realized that one of those all too common delays, a Jinshin Jiko (人身事故), a “human accident,” had likely occurred. It’s a curious euphemism.

REVIEW: Lightning Rabbit Premium Gadget Cables (GALLERY)

Lightning Rabbits are cables. Some very nice cables. We reviewed them...err, commented on them. A 2000-word TL:DR expose on a gadget cable is a level of geekery to which we cannot rise, so comments suffice.
