Fullauto StrainEye LSM-9000LE Simplifies Strain Measurements and Enables Quality Control

Luceo developed the "Fullauto StrainEye LSM-9000LE" to accurately and easily measure the strain of glass and plastic products.

"This is a two-dimensional strain measuring device that is easy to operate. Conventional measuring devices can only measure a single point of a sample, but the Fullauto StrainEye LSM-9000LE can measure the entire area of a sample."

Until now, the mainstream devices for measuring strain and the like have been visual observation type strain testers that use the Senarmont method. With the Senarmont method, an operator rotates the analyzer to change the brightness of the measurement location, and the degree of the strain is then measured by rotated angle.

"The LSM−9000LE uses a method called the rotating analyzer method. With this method, a sample can be easily measured no matter where it is placed by the operator.

In the past, only a single location could be measured, but with the LSM−9000LE, an entire sample can be measured using exclusive software. In addition, the use of the exclusive software eliminates any errors due to differences between individuals.

The device is also equipped with a shutter to shield external light, so measurements can even be performed in bright locations."

Once a sample is placed in the device, the LSM-9000LE can measure the entire sample in approximately 20 seconds with a single click. The measurement results can be displayed as a 2D distribution image, and by specifying the size of retardation, axial direction (histograms are displayed as images), or area with a one-dimensional graph, the strain distribution can be displayed as a 3D image.

"Our company has been in business for 48 years as a specialty manufacturer of polarizing plates and wavelength plates, and we have developed this device utilizing the technology that we accumulated during that time. We also successfully produced the device at an affordable retail price for customers such as 2.5 million yen, by developing the exclusive software in-house."
