Panasonic - LUMIX DMC-FZ1000 - the world's first 4K-capable compact digital camera

Panasonic announced that they are going to release the world's first compact digital camera with 4K video recording capability - LUMIX DMC-FZ1000 - on July 17.

It will be sold for around 100,000 yen.

LUMIX DMC-FZ1000 is able to record 4K video (3,840×2,160) at up to 30 fps in the MP4 format. There is also a built-in functionality called "4K PHOTO" to capture 8MP images in the 4K video footage. It can also output 1920×1080 60fps full HD resolution video.

LUMIX DMC-FZ1000 has optical 16X zoom LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT lens that covers a focal distance of 25 to 400mm (35mm equivalent) and has an effective 20.1MP 1.0 inch MOS sensor, 3.0 inch vari-angle LCD monitor, and organic EL view finder (2.36M dots). As storage media, it supports SDXC/SDHC/SD memory cards.

It provides ultra-fast 0.09 seconds auto-focus performance and 0.66 seconds start-up time. To make it easy to pair it up with smartphones, Wi-Fi, NFC, and QR code are supported.
