  • African American Youth Travel Program Summer Kickstarter

 Caffé [MAP]

Editors' Note About the Program:
Having found success as a JET Program teacher and in a subsequent and ongoing entertainment career here in Japan, AAYTP founder Amber Richardson decided to do something to give back, both to her adopted home and to her community back in Lakewood, Washtington, U.S.A.

AAYTP aims to create a bridge through universal themes expressed in music and art, and Amber's also keen to expand connections between African American culture and uniquely Japanese culture - both the traditional and the modern, i.e., anime, manga, food, etc.

Amber's fledgling program is already well off the ground, and AAYTP will welcome two young visitors to Tokyo later this month: Destiny, 14, and Malano, 15. Tonight's event is a chance to learn more about the visitors, the program, and to meet like-minded individuals interested in sharing Japanese culture around the world.

Here in Tokyo?
AAYTP's Summer Kickstarter is open to the public - see event details above, and hop over to Facebook to join in.

Once Again, it's J-Cosplay Day! Cosplay doesn't have a really specific place of origin, but most would say it began sort of concurrently as an American/Japanese phenomenon, then went global. Basically, it's anytime-doable Halloween. And often produces...beautiful people.
Actually the noodle maker was already released in Taiwan and China, and Japan is the third country to sell it. However, Philips prepared something special only for Japan.

Some Things are Universal
...like, for example, the marketing value of young ladies in swimsuits standing around holding products. They do catch the eye, and the appeal is universal, but as with any culture, Japan has their particular methodology - here’s how they roll:
