These three gears, rotating at 4,500 rpm, are completely in sync, and are running on an AC servo system developed by Mitsubishi Electric.

"Here we're demonstrating how even if three gears overlap like this, they can be completely prevented from interfering, by moving them with exactly the same timing. This can be done because the motors are controlled with micron-level accuracy. So, there's no interference, even when they're running at such high speed."

TDK has developed a heat-assisted recording technology, which will drastically increase the capacity of hard disk drives.

 

This next generation IGZO MEMS display has been developed by a collaboration between Sharp and Qualcomm subsiduary Pixtronics.

Microscopic MEMS shutters which opens and close are used to control the output of light from the red, green, blue and white LEDs which make up each pixel. By using this system, the display features high levels of brightness and color reproduction in any environment, and significantly lowers power consumption.

Canon is currently showing an intriguing optical illusion video on a special website called "PIXUS×GUNDAM PROJECT". The video is a collaborated project with the Gundam series and it is made to promote Canon's ink-jet printer PIXUS.
