NTT docomo - Smartphone for Seniors from Hot J-Designer
Grandparent Phone? Yeah!
At NTT docomo's 2014 Summer rollout, AkihabaraNews saw the latest smartphone for seniors: the Raku-Raku ("easy-easy") Smartphone 3. It's manufactured by Fujitsu, and it will be released sometime in August by NTT docomo.
Most AkiharaNews readers don't need a smartphone designed for elderly people yet, but the new Raku-Raku Smartphone 3 is actually very sophisticated and lean.
Of course, it looks cool because it was designed by the popular designer Kenya Hara, who is especially famous for his career as art director for retail giant Muji since 2001. It has a shape that fits well inside your hand and the front and back sides go well together.
Raku-Raku Smartphone 3 has a 4.5-inch organic EL touch screen. The touch screen needs to be touched firmly like when you use buttons on a traditional mobile phone.
