Tokyo Street Shots: The Living Gallery (COLLECTION 4; Set #1)

Tokyo Street Shots - AkihabaraNews.com

To all TSS fans: Collection 4 is scheduled to be the final installment of the series, bringing us to 200 shots - a nice, round, satisfying number.

There will be four additional TSS sets, and thereafter we'll begin a new Living Gallery, which is very likely to be an experiment in hyper-local photo essay. Senior Contributor and all-around photoguy Nayalan Moodley, and his camera, have lot more to say about life here in the big, big city.

AkihabaraNews is Japan & Asia tech; we work to find the cool and cultural news accessible only to a boots-on-the-ground team. Our editors and contributors also provide perspective on everyday life: meeting the people, eating the foodtaking the train, using the tech, and walking the streets of this pulsating seethe of technology and social structure that, with approximately 36 million metro area inhabitants, is far and away the world’s largest city.

The Living Gallery
It can't be all tech all the time, so each week AkihabaraNews editors set out to collect 10 high-res shots of average, public Tokyo life. S
ome of the Street Shots scream and grab the eye, some are subtle and nuanced, and some are quite mundane. In any case, we feel lucky to be here and privileged to share the Tokyo that we see. Oh, and to add a bit of flavor every once and again, we also stir-in a few Osaka Street Shots.

Reader submissions are very welcome: just email your high-res Tokyo Street Shots, past or present, to info@, subject: TSS. We'll toss a shout-out and link to the media sharing site of your choice.

Streets of Osaka - AkihabaraNews.com
If Tokyo is a too-cool-for-school designer with the effortlessly stylish outfit, Osaka is wearing dad jeans while fixing your stereo. Japan’s third-largest city becomes its second-largest during the workday, and its nighttime streets reward those who give them more than a casual glance.

AkihabaraNews MICROCAST

Anyone can set up a camera for long exposure shots, but there’s undeniable artistry in choosing one’s subject matter, mastering the composition process, and holding true to a theme; Tokyo, a contemplation of the profound socio-technological complexity of the largest city in human history, delivers an exemplar thereof.
