Soy Cream meets milky acidic Calpis

Calpis is a traditional Japanese soft drink, which probably all Japanese people have had at least once in their life and that most Japanese enjoy. It is also likely that most foreigners who have tried it do not particularly enjoy it.

It's a white, milky and acidic drink.

To this uniquely flavored old-school drink, LB Co.,Ltd. has decided to add rich soy cream, and they are going to release Soy Cream & Calpis on April 29. I cannot imagine how these 2 different things can go well together, however, just like the cola flavored soymilk released last month by Kikkoman, Soy Cream & Calpis may make waves across the country.

Japan's Traditional Sushi Now Comes with Futuristic Technology

With its masters required to hone their skills over decades, sushi in Japan is steeped in tradition. But it is also often a high-tech operation where robotic precision steals the limelight from the chef's knife.

Takara Tomy Arts is going to release an interesting pudding maker called Mawashite Mawashite Marugoto Purin (meaning "Rotate Rotate Whole Pudding" in Japanese) on September 25. With it, you can make an egg turn into pudding inside without cracking the egg shell.

If you have ever wanted to a lick a Pikachu, I can confirm that he/she/[insert your preferred gender here] tastes of mango. Yes, that’s right. If your childhood dreams of catching them all actually involved eating them all, you now can. Except, by all Pokémon, I actually mean mainly Pikachu.

Häagen-Dazs just introduced their new "Spoon Vege" vegetable flavored ice cream series.  They will release 2 flavors on May 12 in Japan: Tomato Cherry and Carrot Orange   

Tomato Cherry has mainly a rich tomato flavor and the fruity aroma and acidity of cherries is added to it. Carrot Orange has a sweet carrot flavor and the refreshing aroma and acidity of orange.

Lotteria, one of the major Japanese burger chains, is going to release Tochigi Wagyu Hamburg Steak Burger, a premium thick Wagyu (beef produced in Japan) patty burger with strawberry sauce, on September 29.

The premium burger will be sold for 1,300 yen (About 13USD), and it comes with either salad, french fries, or drink of your choice.

The Days of Cold Bento Food are Over!
"Bento" is now a common word around the world, so many of you might know that bento box means a Japanese-style lunch box.  Wouldn't it make you happy if you can eat a warm homemade lunch anytime you want without using a microwave oven?



Yesterday, Mos Burger, the Japanese burger chain, released some new items for their famous rice burger series.

One of them surprised us a lot. The Sabamiso Rice Burger might look like a very new concept for those living overseas, but actually it's simple and old - it is just made from the favorite Japanese lunch combination: Makerel cooked in miso based broth with some fine strips of leek as a topping and white rice - and put into a sandwich.

Nestlé Japan is now selling 2 premium KitKat products, "KitKat Otona no Amasa Feuillantine" and  "KitKat Otona no Amasa Feuillantine Almond" exclusively at Seven Eleven stores in Japan.

KitKat's Otona no Amasa series is made for grown-ups and not overly sweet (Otona no Amasa means "Sweetness for Adults" in English).

KitKat Otona no Amasa Feuillantine contains Feuillantine, ultra-thin pieces of French baked pastry, cocoa wafer, and rum powder.
