Panasonic's Lumix GH4 has Variable Frame Rate!
As any photographer knows, high-end cameras with VFR built-in allow for the rate of frames... to be like, you know, varied. And thats a good thing because non-variable frame rates aren't as cool. Good enough, yeah?

Well, no.
Actually, to really get a handle on what VFR means and why it's a super sexy camera feature, you'll have to jump over to Senior Contributor Nayalan's GH4 review, but for now, this:

Shibuya Slow- and Fast-Mo
Nayalan's flagship review of Panasonic's flagship camera includes some great video and fantastic photos for camera heads, but this little bonus is more for general consumption; it's something special.

Suffice it to say, if you know Tokyo's Shibuya ward, this will give you new perspective; and if you do not, you'll either long to visit or run away scared (too many humans!). Enjoy, and maybe like... turn it on for background at a party.

Holding Up the Tokyo Monorail (4K VIDEO)
If it weren't for the wear and obvious age of the cars and elevated tracks, you'd be forgiven for judging the Tokyo Monorail as futuristic and technologically marvelous. And even if the big, big city is old hat, it's hard not to be moved by that ride - but what's holding up the 51-year-old inverted anachronism?

Seavac has been researching the conventional coating technologies using TiN, Ti-Al, and CrN, and developed ZERO-I, a new coating that combines the advantages of all three.

"The hardness is about 3,500 HV. This coating is heat-resistant to over 1,000 degrees. Conventional Ti-Al coatings were heat-resistant to nearly 900 degrees, but this coating has even better heat resistance, and hardness as well."
