Nikon - Flagship SLR camera D7100 & new high power lens kit

Nikon is going to release the D7100 18-300 VR Super Zoom Kit on April 24 that comes bundled with Nikon's flagship single-lens-reflex camera D7100 and the new high-power zoom lens "AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3G ED VR".

The price will be about ¥213,300.

D7100 was released about a year ago. It is the top of the line Nikon DX Format model with APS-C size 24.1MP CMOS sensor.

The new compact 16.7X lens (AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3G ED VR) covers the focal distance of 27mm-450mm (in 35mm format).  It will be separately released on April 24 for ¥100,440.

Nikon has just revealed that their new flagship Nikon FX format digital single-lens reflex camera Nikon D4S will be out on March 6.

Based on the previous model D4, the new flagship D4S has improved auto focus performance, image quality, operability, etc.

D4S features the image processor EXPEED 4, effective 16.23MP Nikon FX format CMOS sensor, ISO 100-25600, improved auto white balance performance, and 3.2-inch LCD monitor (0.92M dots).

Nikon Business in Health and Medical Investment in Retina Institute Japan, K.K.

Nikon Corporation announced today that it signed an agreement to invest in Retina Institute Japan, K.K. (RIJ).

Under the agreement, Nikon will subscribe for 500 million yen worth of shares issued by RIJ.

Together, Nikon and RIJ will collaborate on developing practical uses of medical treatments for age-related macular degeneration.  RIJ has been working on the world's first case of regenerative medicine using iPS cell technology, utilizing Nikon's own core technology in optics and imaging.


Nikon announced that they are going to start selling a new compact digital single reflex camera model with full size sensor - "D610" - on October 19.

Major features such as full size sensor, image processor, AF sensor, etc. are the same as the previous model "D600", however, continuous shooting speed was improved to 6fps and the new "Silent Continuous Shooting Mode", that enables continuous shooting at 3fps in the silent mode, was added.

If you are seriously into taking photos of stars, it might be worth purchasing Nikon's new "D810A" DSLR camera for ¥420,000. The camera is exclusively made for taking shooting astrophotography and it's especially good at taking photos of diffuse nebula.

Nikon's new lightweight DSLR camera "Nikon D7200" equips an APS-C 24.2MP sensor, EXPEED 4 image processing engine and a 51-point auto-focus system. It will be released on March 19.

Nikon's new mirrorless camera Nikon 1 J4 will be released on April 24. 4 colors will be available: Silver, White, Black and Orange.

Like its upper model Nikon 1 V3, Nikon 1 J4 supports the world's fastest 20fps continuous shooting with autofocus tracking (up to 60 fps when autofocus is locked).  

Nikon's new DSLR camera "D5500" will be out for sale on February 5. It has the currently smallest and lightest body among all existing DSLR cameras with a vari-angle LCD monitor built-in.
