Tokyo Monorail launches new cars for the 1st time in 17 years in its 50th anniversary year

If you have landed or departed from Tokyo International Airport (A.K.A., Haneda Airport), you might have taken Tokyo Monorail. Tokyo Monorail started operation 50 years ago, in 1964. It was the year of the Tokyo Olympics in Tokyo, and since then, it has been one of the main accesses to get to Tokyo International Airport.

Now, it has been announced, Tokyo Monorail Co., Ltd. is going to introduce new monorail cars in July of this year. For airport users, the new car is designed to save enough space for suitcases. Its interior design will be something that reminds passengers of Japanese beauty and hospitality, and the monitors inside will show information in 4 languages. It will have a Wi-Fi network so that passengers can use ultra-fast internet during their travel time.

We are so excited for the next Tokyo Olympics which will take place in 2020. People expect many improvements here in Tokyo, especially with infrastructure, in order to be ready to welcome visitors from all over the world.

A note about Tokyo's airports: Since the start of Tokyo Monorail, another airport - Narita International Airport - was opened. This is a larger airport and handles most of Tokyo's international flights for now, while Tokyo International Airport handles most of Tokyo's domestic flights. However, since Tokyo International Airport opened a new terminal for international flights in 2010, more and more international flights to different destinations have been added into service.
