Canon - PowerShot N100 with sub-camera allowing simultaneous subject and user images and stories

Canon's new compact digital camera PowerShot N100 is going to be released on April 17 for about ¥34,800.

One of the features of the PowerShot N100 is its sub-camera with 25mm wide-angle lens called Story Camera. The camera takes the photographer's face as well as the subject when the shutter button is pressed.

It has other functions such as Dual Capture that records synthesized still/moving images taken with the main camera, Plus Movie Auto that records both still and moving images taken for 4 seconds before the shutter is pressed, and Story Highlight that automatically selects good still/moving images and makes an album.

This camera is about making/recording a story.  Watch a story unfold and a photographer's happy face taking a photo of his baby.

PowerShot N100 has effective 12.1MP CMOS sensor, optical 4X zoom lens that covers focal length options ranging from 24mm to 120mm in 35mm equivalent, and tiltable LCD touch monitor that enables you to control with 2 fingers.

Nikon is going to release a simple-looking compact digital camera COOLPIX P340 for about ¥45,000 on January 27.

COOLPIX P340 has an optical 5X zoom lens with a focal length of 5.1-25.5mm (equivalent to 24-120mm in 35mm format), 1/1.7 backlight CMOS sensor (effective 12.19 MP), 3-inch TFT LCD monitor (0.92M dots) and Wi-Fi function.

Sony announced that they are going to release the new mirrorless camera α7S for about ¥230,000 on June 20 in Japan.

The main features of the α7S are that it's able to shoot 4K videos and also able to shoot ultra-high sensitivity ISO range up to 409600.

Panasonic unveiled their new LUMIX mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera DMC-GH4 which is now displayed at CP+ 2014 currently taking place in Yokohama, Japan. It is the world's first MILC that is able to shoot 4K quality movies (Cinema 4K: 4096x2160 / 24 fps and QFHD 4K: 3840x2160 / up to 30 fps) in MOV/MP4.

Nikon has just announced that they will release the new model Nikon 1 V3 from their mirrorless camera series Nikon 1 in April.

The standout features of the Nikon 1 V3 are that it is able to shoot continuously up to 20fps with autofocus tracking and up to 60 fps when autofocus is locked.

From Canon's compact digital camera IXY series, the new IXY 130 will be released on August 7.

IXY 130 is only 22.1mm-thick. It features an optical 8X zoom lens covering a range of 28-224mm (35mm equivalent), and the Progressive Fine Zoom function allows you to shoot in 16X zoom.

There is an optical image stabilizer function called Multi Scene IS that detects scenes and offers the image stabilizing effect that is best for the scene.
 

Ricoh Imaging sent out a press release to announce that the release date of their popular upcoming PENTAX K-3 Prestige Edition is changed to August 29. It was originally announced to be out on August 8.

The date change happened due to a procurement delay of the product's parts.

Sony is going to release the new Cyber-shot DSC-HX400V for about ¥51,000 on April 4.

DSC-HX400V features an effective 20.4 MP 1/2.3 inch Exmor R CMOS sensor, image processor BIONZ X (same as the ones used for their mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera "α7" series), and optical 50X Carl Zeiss Vario-SonnarT* lens (equivalent to 24-1200mm in 35mm format). It also has GPS, NFC and Wi-Fi functions, Multi Interface Shoe (MIS) and 0.2 inch electric view finder (20.1M dots) and tiltable 3-inch LCD monitor (0.92M dots).

Canon announced the release of their new digital single-lens reflex camera, EOS 7D Mark II. It will be released for 208,000 yen in early November.

EOS 7D Mark II is the successor of the EOS 7D that was released in 2009, and it is the flagship model of Canon's DSLR with APS-C sensor.

Promising Return to Form for a Former Industry Heavyweight  

Olympus is going to release STYLUS SH-1 for about ¥40,000 from its compact digital camera "OLYMPUS STYLUS" series in late April.

The new STYLUS SH-1 has an exterior design similar to that of Olympus's popular mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera series OLYMPUS PEN.

Canon is going to release the new PowerShot digital camera - PowerShot SX400 IS - on August 7.

PowerShot SX400 IS has an optical 30X zoom lens covering a range of 24-720mm (35mm equivalent). By simultaneously using a digital zoom function "Progressive Fine Zoom", it boosts its zoom up to 60X and keeps its high-resolution. It also has DIGIC 4+ image processor and brings 0.19 seconds ultra-fast auto focus and 0.22 seconds release time lag.

Ricoh Imaging announced that they will bring their new medium format DSLR camera PENTAX 645Z to the market for ¥860,000 in late June. It was displayed as "PENTAX 645D 2014" at CP+2014 that was held in Yokohama in February.

Olympus just announced that they are going to release a compact digital camera specialized for taking photos at construction sites - OLYMPUS STYLUS TG-3 工一郎 (pronounced as Koichiro in Japanese) - sometime in July.
