KINIVO M2 Bluetooth & NFC(!) Home Speaker System
I'm a big fan of setups that don't require cables, and I’d be quite happy if we could eventually BLUETOOTH ALL THE THINGS! (Or WiFi, Zigbee, Zwave, etc... you get the idea).

The KINIVO M2 does this and quite a bit more. The three units as a whole have a clean, modern, industrial design with thoughtful accents on the components. The satellites have an angled base so when placed on a desk they actually point at your ears instead of your chest! They also have mount holes on the back in the event you wanted to place them higher in a room. The subwoofer has nice accent lighting around the primary volume control which might even help you find it after you've paired your device and hidden it under your desk. Which you may not want to do, more on that in a minute.

Pairing
The Bluetooth pairing process was very easy with iOS devices: simply press the Bluetooth button on the back, wait for the binky, and make sure your phone is ready to pair. A pleasant "bleep" sounds, and you're ready to go. The NFC pairing is even easier. Just place your NFC enabled device on the top of the subwoofer - there's even a subtle logo to guide you - and your device will pair up immediately. To be clear, NFC needs to be enabled for this to work, but Bluetooth doesn't, at least on the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX I tested with. As long as NFC is on and in contact with the subwoofer, it should automatically enable Bluetooth and join forces with the KINIVO M2.

Home Arrangement & Placement
First, for those interested in missing part of the point of the M2 and instead would like to cable up in the traditional fashion, there is of course a standard RCA stereo input with source select on the subwoofer. Second, going back to why you may not want to hide this attractively designed subwoofer too far out of sight: it has the master speaker volume control on it. Your Bluetooth device, which can act as a volume control for the system, doesn't have yet have a volume memory setting for connecting to paired devices (FEATURE REQUEST!). Depending on how you use your audio gear, you could find yourself needing access to the master volume and EQ fairly frequently.

Sound Quality
This system easily fills a large room with well-balanced sound. I tested it with a variety of music from classical to podcasts to what some people consider Robot Sex Music (Dubstep), and it performed very well. Even at full volume with a little EQ towards the bass, it held up without making the subwoofer cry out in pain. Frequency response up and down the spectrum is excellent and the subwoofer crossover is well built with minimal high frequency leakage.

The KINIVO M2 can rumble the walls and annoy roommates or neighbors should you so desire. You could easily use this system as your primary computer sound system or have it be a tasteful bookshelf system in almost any room. All tests point toward the KINIVO M2 being a well-built product that should meet your 2.1 audio needs for a long time to come, delivering all that at an attractive price point as well.
