Canon's digital camera production reaches 250,000,000
Since Canon's first digital camera EOS DCS 3 was released in 1995, the total production of Canon's digital cameras, including compact digital cameras and digital cameras with interchangeable lenses, finally marked 250,000,000 as of January 31, 2014.
After releasing EOS DCS 3, Canon released their first compact digital camera, PowerShot 600 in 1996, and then they released the stylish IXY DIGITAL in 2000 to the expanding market and growing trend of compact digital cameras. The number of their compact digital camera production reached 100,000,000 in 2008, and 200,000,000 in December 2013.
Regarding digital cameras with interchangeable lenses, it was almost only for professionals in the 1990s, however, Canon says that they changed the market by releasing the next-generation amateur-friendly digital camera with interchangeable lenses EOS D30 in 2000 and then EOS Kiss Digital in 2013. Total production of digital cameras with interchangeable lenses reached 25,000,000 in 2005 and 50,000,000 in February 2014.
