Raw Video: Sony's 147" Short-Throw 4K Projector

Sony 4K Projector - AkihabaraNews.com

Incredibly Close (to the Wall) and Extremely Want
On Tuesday we attended Sony's Life Space UX demo & concept event in Tokyo's Ginza Ward, a place partially cool because Sony's there, but arguably lame overall because it's exclusive and high-class and rico suave by shear force of calling itself such (read: it's not really all that, but if enough people think it is...).

Ginza's kind of like a $59 sandwich. So to speak.
Okay, anyway...

Sony's Life Space UX
...Is all about Sony's vision of the interactive, intuitive, omni-utilitarian projection screen-covered living space of the future they hope to sell us. Although most of the concepts they showed were just that, we're kinda ready to start throwing cash in their direction now.

For most applications, if they can be made effectively interactive, projected screens just make more sense: you wouldn't want to chop veggies or spill red wine on a Microsoft Surface, but when a usable screen is projected on a white tabletop, well that'll allow for both food prep and email and web browsing and looking up recipes, etc.

Sony - Ultra short-throw projector that displays a 147-inch 4K image on a plain wall

The Projector
At Tuesday's event we saw a projected, interactive tabletop display, a ceiling-mounted projected video skylight/responsive mood lighting, touch-enabled wall displays, and of course the big burrito: Sony's 147-Inch Short-Throw 4K Projector. It's a beautiful thing. With a price to match that beauty... or a low-end luxury car.

We'll have more to say on this in Episode 5 of the Untitled Two-Man Tokyo Tech Show, of which Sony's Life Space UX event is the centerpiece, but for now, here's some raw video shot with a Sony RX100. Stay tuned for more.
