AkihabaraNews is Japan & Asia tech; the cool and cultural that only a boots-on-the-ground team can deliver. Our editors and contributors also provide perspective on everyday life: meeting the people, eating the foodtaking the train, using the tech, and walking the streets of this pulsating seethe of technology and social structure that, with approximately 36 million metro area inhabitants, is far and away the world’s largest city. Ever. With this project, we hope to share a little more of that.

The Living Gallery
Each week, AkihabaraNews editors set out to collect 10 high-res shots of public Tokyo life. Some scream and grab the eye, some are subtle and nuanced, even mundane.

Reader submissions are also quite welcome: email your high-res Tokyo street shots, past or present, to info@, subject: TSS. Include your name and we’ll give you a shout out in the post.

Tokyo Street Shots are posted in mid-res here at the site, and high-res on Flickr. Leave a comment. Make a request. Share. Enjoy.

Tokyo Street Shots: The Living Gallery (RAINY SEASON SPECIAL EDITION) - AkihabaraNews.com

Rainy Season Special Edition
This week's Street Shots installment celebrates, err...laments the arrival of Japan's rainy season. Though relatively mild thus far here in Tokyo, when the torrents do fall on we the tens of millions living in very close proximity, it can get uncomfortable quickly.

Fishing in Fukushima with the CASIO PRO TREK 3500 (FIELD TEST)
We didn’t want to just take CASIO’s word that the PRO TREK 3500 watch delivers for the outdoor enthusiast – and they didn’t want us to, either. So we swapped skyscrapers for trees, highways for rivers, and ventured north to Lake Hibara in Fukushima prefecture to put the watch through some real-world trials!
The Ladies (and cameras) of CP+ 2015 (GALLERY)
Okay, so we’re a little bit late to the CP+ gallery game, but it's better than never, and that doesn’t mean it wasn’t fantastic, and apropos to the theme of the event, today we share not words, we share imagery - enjoy!

Holiday Cosplay (DECIDEDLY NSFW GALLERY) [TOP 15 of 2015]
[#4 of 2015's Top 15 Articles] We’ve racked up about 2.5 months since last we published one of these galleries, and the timing works: we tend to do it on Japanese holidays. Today’s gallery celebrates one player in particular: the very gifted and minimally costumed Ms. Ringo Mitsuki.
REVIEW: The ASUS ZenPhone 5 & ZenWatch Do Tokyo
Tech giant ASUS recently came out with two new devices in Japan, and they're looking to compete with the likes of Samsung, HTC and yes - even Apple. The Asus ZenFone 5 is a smartphone running Android, and the elegant ZenWatch brings some style to the future-thinking Android Wear ecosystem.
Girls of Anime Japan 2014 (and some other anime stuff) [TOP 14 of '14]
"The most important lesson I took from Anime Japan 2014 was that AkihabaraNews needs someone else to cover anime." -Editor Reno J. Tibke
The Ladies of Tokyo Auto Salon (EXCITING GALLERY #2)
It should be mentioned again: "I’m not too sure I agree with the practice of parading beautiful women around as objects of lust secondary only to the cars themselves, but sports cars are not about thinking with your brain." Wheeeeee!

Worth every yen in build and image, but still a tall order for all but the most heavily invested professionals.
