Yukijirushi's White Coffee = Milk?

Japan is awesome especially when it comes to food, culture, entertainment, and of course, geeky techie things, however Japan is not awesome at all regarding the coffee situation. It is usually very bitter or extremely watered down and diluted. One of the most popular types is called "American" at a regular cafe. If you order this, you're basically getting bitter coffee diluted with hot water.

Another phenomenon with coffee in Japan is that anything with milk will have way too much of it in it. If you order a latte, it tastes like it is probably about 4 parts milk to 1 part coffee.

Also the word "milk" automatically means "sweet" for coffee, especially for prepackaged coffee.

Now, Yukijirushi-Megumilk (MEGMILK SNOW BRAND Co.,Ltd.) has announced that it will start selling Shiroi Yukijirushi Coffee on March 11. It literally means Yukijirushi's "white" coffee.

Although it says コーヒー (Coffee) in big letters on its package, any coffee with the word "white" describing it is probably basically a sweet milk drink with some drops of coffee for some flavor.

Ugh.. White Coffee.

Yesterday, Mos Burger, the Japanese burger chain, released some new items for their famous rice burger series.

One of them surprised us a lot. The Sabamiso Rice Burger might look like a very new concept for those living overseas, but actually it's simple and old - it is just made from the favorite Japanese lunch combination: Makerel cooked in miso based broth with some fine strips of leek as a topping and white rice - and put into a sandwich.

It says American style but REALLY??

Freshness Burger today released a doubtful burger called - Pizzaburg American Style.

Pizzaburg is a burger that looks like a pizza but tastes like a burger, and you eat it with a fork and knife. A beef patty, sunny-side up egg, lettuce, tomato, and cheese are on the fresh focaccia. That's served topped with bacon bits, fried onion and brown sauce.

China's past expiration date chicken issue has been making a lot of noise around the world, and it's well-known that McDonald's in Japan was getting chicken from the problematic Chinese company.

Because of that, recently, McDonald's in Japan has begun selling Tofu Nuggets. It uses a mix of minced Alaska pollack, tofu, carrot, and edamame. Teriyaki-style ginger sauce comes with it.

Tokyo Banana is a sweet treat that wraps banana custard cream with a soft sponge cake. It's the most recognizable souvenir from Tokyo for people traveling to other parts of Japan.

Currently, a special spring version is on sale for a limited time only. It's a floral printed Tokyo Banana called Tokyo Banana no Hana, and instead of banana custard cream, it has banana shake flavored cream inside.
