Untitled Two-Man Tokyo Tech Show
We're still kinda working on that title - suggestions are welcome! Episode 2 does shave about 8 minutes compared to our first outing in Akihabara, and it's still packed with dorky goodness. Both fortunately and sadly, the absence of our drunken friend, Mr. Kikuchi, was really the key to keeping Episode 2 manageably watchable in the time department.

This Week - Win an iPad Mini case!

So Like, What About This?
For this our second venture, we shot in one of Tokyo's, in fact, one of Japan's most iconic neighborhoods, Shibuya. While we were mostly stationary for Episode 1, this time we bounce around to several locations.

Do give us your venue suggestions for future locations, your feedback, your criticism, let us know if anyone thinks Nayalan doesn't look nearly hardcore enough to be into death metal, any corrections, call-outs, tips. If you just wanna make fun of us, we can take it. Trolls with flair and originality will receive extra points and a cookie.

Have a watch. Let us know.

Breakdown: EPISODE 2
AkihabaraNews' contributor Nayalan Moodley and editor Reno J. Tibke stand around in iconic Shibuya waxing geeky on the latest tech news. This week, we shot in several locations: just outside the train station, whilst traversing the giant "scramble intersection," and in a few nice spots on nice narrow streets.

TokyoStreetView: Shiodome (4K VIDEO)
Until 1914, Shiodome was known as the Shimbashi railway terminal, but since 1984 it has slowly transformed into one of Tokyo’s most modern areas, where luxury hotels and business buildings rule the roost. There's even a clock designed by Studio Ghibli and heavily inspired by the movie Hauru no Ugoku Shiro (ハウルの動く城), or Howl’s Moving Castle.

In its 18 public months, Honda’s semi-robotic UNI-CUB personal mobility device hasn’t seen a lot of the spotlight, but that might be changing; last week, here in Tokyo, we managed to capture some raw footage of a UNI-CUB test ride, smartphone control, and a rolling departure (VIDEO).

Takara Tomy introduced their new entertainment robot series OMNIBOT, and they are going to release the first 2 robots - Hello!MiP and Hello!Zoomer - on June 21.

Takara Tomy is going to release a lie detecter toy - "Kokoro Scanner" - to indicate the level of your physiological disturbance in different colors. It will be available for 2,500 yen on October 30.

When a person gets nervous, the flow of his blood becomes faster.  Kokoro Scanner utilizes the phenomenon and detects if you are lying or not, as shown by the color of the light.

SwitchScience has released the construction kit for a humanoid robot called RAPIRO.

RAPIRO consists of 30 plastic parts, 12 servo motors (2 per leg, 3 per arm, 1 for the waist, and 1 for the neck). Full color LEDs are used for the eyes.

You can assemble the kit using only a screwdriver.

From Thanko's "Gorone" (means lay down/bunk down) series, a new tablet and smartphone stand to support your smart device for you to use while you lay down was just released.

It's not easy to use a tablet or smartphone while you lie on on your bed. That will eventually give numbness in your arms. But, if you have the stand, there will be no need to hold your tablet or smartphone and then you can enjoy using it for a long time without your arms getting tired.
