Sony - IPX4 splash-proof Action Cam "HDR-AS100V"

Sony has just announced that they are going to release the flagship model HDR-AS100V of their digital HD video camera recorder Action Cam series on March 14.

IPX4 splash-proof performance was added to the new HDR-AS100V so that you can comfortably use it on rainy days or for activity where you might get wet. The previous model "HDR-AS30V" released on October 2013 didn't have this performance although it comes with an accompanying waterproof case.

HDR-AS100V features an effective 13.5MP backlight CMOS sensor Exmor R, BIONZ X image processor, and Carl Zeiss Tessar lens. They enable HDR-AS100V to record high-definition minute motions at HD 50Mbps and provide a high-powered image stabilizer (2.5 times better than the previous model). Wi-Fi function is also built-in.

Also, the live view remote control kit will be released on the same day. It comes with the Action Cam HDR-AS100V  and the live view remote control "RM-LVR1". With RM-LVR1, you can control (such as start and stop) a maximum of 5 Action Cams and monitor the angle of view of each camera.

  • Price: HDR-AS100V (Action Cam) - About ¥33,000 / HDR-AS100VR (Action Cam x live view remote control) - About ¥43,000
  • Size: 24.2 x 46.5 x 81.5mm
