CP+ 2014 Day 1: The best in Camera and Photo Imaging Technology

CP+ Day One - AkihabaraNews.com

CP+ 2014, or the Camera and Photo Imaging Show is currently being held over 4 days at the Pacifico Yokohama Convention Centre (Feb 13 -16).

As is spashed on the event website and proclaimed by our press kit, the event theme is:

“Joy and Beauty through Advance Photo Imaging Technology” [sic]

…and were it phrased as a question, the best answer would be YES! That’s right, All-CAPS yes.

To break it down, all the big (and many not so big) names in the Photo and Imaging industry are here with their latest products on show. AkihabaraNews has a good deal of in-depth coverage on the way, but the quick and dirty highlights run along the lines of:

Voigtlander and Zeiss cut all their lenses in half.

The Sigma DPs look amazing and have build quality to match. Depending on the the eventual price point, It could be the purist photographer’s camera of choice this year.

Panasonic’s New 4k AG-GH4 does away with the silly superstition that having 4 in a product name is bad luck (the number four can be pronounced ‘shi’ which sounds like ‘death’ in Japanese).

Epson’s new T-Shirt printer is just plain brilliant!

The new Hasselblad H5D-50C costs more than a car, is about as big as one, and can immortalise the finest details, tiniest moles, shallowest wrinkles and slightest excess make-up on a model’s face in 50 glorious megapixels… much to the dismay of the poor guy doing the retouching.

And Olympus has the most impressive subject matter to showcase the capabilities of their new OMD EM-10 and recent additions to their lens lineup.

We’ll have more coverage here over the next few days including photos, video, and interviews from CP+2014 - stay tuned!

REVIEW: Casio Selfie-Cam (Me, Myself & I)

The Casio EX-TR35 is a peculiar beast...
Were you to look at the specs, you’d see a 12 megapixel 1/23 inch backlit CMOS sensor mated to a 3.8mm (Full frame equivalent of 21mm) lens in a small, but not particularly impressive, plastic body.

Yoriko Takahashi - March 28, 2014

With Thanko's Night-Vision Scope Camera, you can see clearly something that you cannot usually see in the dark.

There is a 7-level adjustable infrared mode to see objects in dark places. A 3X power telescope and 2X digital zoom lens enable you to observe distant objects. Also, you are able to shoot still/moving images with it so that it might be fun to use it on your friends - scare them at night-time and record their reaction!

It is also usable in the day time as well by using the infrared cut filter attached to the body.
