Surreal Tokyo: "In Motion," by Aaron Grimes (VIDEO)

Awesomeness Fatigue
It's easy to grow accustomed to the bombast of everyday life here in Tokyo, and after a time, it's actually an imperative. Constant, effusive elation at the trains being on time, the streets being so clean, and how non-intuitively safe it is to inhabit the world's largest city can grate on one's peers. And eventually, as it must, the fantastical simply fades into the rote, mundane background of one's day-to-day.

That being that, however, it's also nice to get an occasional reminder of how beautiful the city can be.

In Motion
Photographer and videographer Aaron Grimes' latest video, "In Motion," elegantly captures what the majority of Tokyo's denizens probably take for granted. Using a Photoshop technique that blends together single frames of video, the resulting images - a passing taxi cab, a man in a train, a girl waiting at the station - they become dreamscapes; something probably very similar to how we'll remember Tokyo if we ever leave.
