Stand-up steak restaurant is now open in Ginza

 

Stand-up-eating restaurants are not unusual here.

Many people here are pressed with work every day and don't want to spend too much time to eat, so stand-up restaurants enable these people to eat a satisfying meal for a very short time. Typical examples are stand-up bars, noodle stands, yakitori (skewered grilled chicken) joints, etc. Recently, more fancy types of stand-up restaurants have opened and people started enjoying full-fledged cuisine such as French and Italian food, casually and reasonably.

On January 5th, a new stand-up restaurant called Ikinari! Steak opened in Ginza, Tokyo and it has been packed with customers since opening day. The restaurant's concept is "Without appetizer, come straight to enjoy steak and wine!" and they serve char-grilled Australian prime rib thick-cut steaks.

You can have your steak cut as thick as you want. They charge you 5 yen per 1g of steak.  At lunch time, a 300g steak or 300g hamburger steak comes with soup and salad and costs only 1,000 yen.

Ginza, where the stand-up steak restaurant is located is Tokyo's most famous shopping district, perhaps a Japanese version of 5th Avenue in NYC.

Häagen-Dazs yesterday started selling new flavored ice cream from their Japanese-themed ice cream series "Japonais". The series is only available in Seven-Eleven stores in Japan.

The new flavor is called "Japonais Vanilla & Kinako Kuromitsu". Kinako means soybean flour, and kuromitsu means Japanese brown sugar syrup in English.

The Days of Cold Bento Food are Over!
"Bento" is now a common word around the world, so many of you might know that bento box means a Japanese-style lunch box.  Wouldn't it make you happy if you can eat a warm homemade lunch anytime you want without using a microwave oven?

 

Nissin is going to release the interesting flavor cup noodle on October 7 - Cheesy Doria (means Rice au Gratin in Japanese) flavor.

The flavor was made in the image of a popular menu "Doria Milan style" from a Japanese family restaurant. The soup consists of a mix of white creamy sauce, meat sauce and 2 types of cheese, which make the soup very rich.

China's past expiration date chicken issue has been making a lot of noise around the world, and it's well-known that McDonald's in Japan was getting chicken from the problematic Chinese company.

Because of that, recently, McDonald's in Japan has begun selling Tofu Nuggets. It uses a mix of minced Alaska pollack, tofu, carrot, and edamame. Teriyaki-style ginger sauce comes with it.

A bit confusing.

A collaboration project of interesting burgers called - MOSDO! - between the Japanese burger chain, Mos Burger, and the doughnut chain, Mister Donut, was just released today.

These new burgers are created under the theme of "Swap items between Mos Burger and Mister Donuts".



Yesterday, Mos Burger, the Japanese burger chain, released some new items for their famous rice burger series.

One of them surprised us a lot. The Sabamiso Rice Burger might look like a very new concept for those living overseas, but actually it's simple and old - it is just made from the favorite Japanese lunch combination: Makerel cooked in miso based broth with some fine strips of leek as a topping and white rice - and put into a sandwich.
