"POKEMON with YOU Train" runs in areas stricken by the Great Tohoku Earthquake


POKEMON with YOU is the name of a support activity using Pokemon characters in areas affected by the Great Tohoku Earthquake. This includes Japan Railway (JR) trains featuring POKEMON with YOU.

The KiHa 100 series trains, operated by JR East, are decorated with Pokemon characters, not just on the outside, but also in the interior on the seats, carpeting, play room, etc.

It started running in December 2012 on the Ofunato-line that passes through one of the most damaged areas and has expanded to the Kamaishi-line and Yamada-line, which are also located in the damaged area.

JR East has also announced that it will operate the POKEMON with YOU Train for 4 days (January 25 and 26, and February 1 and 2) on the Mito-line and on Jyoban-line and they will invite a maximum of 138 people for free rides. Kids living in Fukushima and Ibaraki prefectures can apply for the chance.
