LightCloth - An interactive cloth woven from optic fibers

 

This is an interactive optic fiber cloth. It is made of side-emitting diffusive optic fibers so computer controlled light patterns can be displayed on it, and by attaching light receivers as well as light emitters, optical signals can be input using infrared light.

"Originally, we came across the light-emitting fabric, where light is emitted from the optical fiber surface. Conversely, we thought it could be used to input data by receiving light through the surface. So, we've created this kind of interface."

"Although the fabric is so thin, it can emit light in full color. Each strand emits a different color. As well as making the interface light up, you can use this pen to change the color. On the fabric side, the system can detect what kind of signal is coming in, and from where."

"We're using a pen here, but you can also change the color through a laser pointer. So, you could do things like changing the color of people on a stage from a distance. Because the fibers are woven in one direction, the information is one-dimensional. Next, we'd like to make it two-dimensional."

What I personally like about the Yurikamome is that, because you are gliding above the ground and between buildings on a winding track, it feels as though you’re traveling through the city aboard some kind of hover car.

SoftBank group is showing that it is really serious about the humanoid robot business.

SoftBank's subsidiary company, Asratec Corp. today introduced control software for humanoid robots - called V-Sido OS. They expect that V-Sido OS will be installed in future robots which will be introduced by many companies.
