The Great East Japan Earthquake Memorial - Giuseppe Verdi: Messa da Requiem

 

Last night we were fortunate enough to attend the Great East Japan Earthquake memorial concert - Giuseppe Verdi: Messa da Requiem - at Suntory Hall in Tokyo.



Tonight, at 6:30pm, the ensemble will give a very special concert in Koriyama City Cultural Center in Koriyama City, Fukushima prefecture.

The ensemble features the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Fujiwara Opera Chorus, conductor Nicola Luisotti of the San Francisco Opera House, Spanish soprano Ainhoa Arteta, American mezzo-soprano, Margaret Mezzacappa, Italian tenor, Francesco Demuro, and Italian bass, Ferruccio Furlanetto.

It will be a chance for people affected by the disaster to view and listen to world class classical players and vocalists.

Next year is the 200th anniversary of the birth of the famous opera composer Giuseppe Verdi.
