Mos Burger - Sabamiso (mackerel and miso) Rice Burger

Yesterday, Mos Burger, the Japanese burger chain, released some new items for their famous rice burger series.

One of them surprised us a lot. The Sabamiso Rice Burger might look like a very new concept for those living overseas, but actually it's simple and old - it is just made from the favorite Japanese lunch combination: Makerel cooked in miso based broth with some fine strips of leek as a topping and white rice - and put into a sandwich.

To make it easy to eat the the Sabamiso Rice Burger, the miso-flavored sauce is thick enough not to drip off, the rice buns are grilled and have some nice roasted flavor and crispy texture, and the mackerel's fine bones (still in the meat) became soft enough to bite by getting simmered well.

Many Japanese think that eating sabamiso makes them want to eat a lot of rice. So we guess this Sabamiso Rice Burger will make people crave a side dish of rice…

It will be available until late March for ¥360.

In Japan, there are lots of restaurants offering an all-you-can-eat or all-you-can-drink service, which means you can eat as much Yakiniku (Japanese BBQ), sushi, alcoholic drinks or sweets as you want (menu differs depending on the restaurant) for a certain amount of time. However, we have never heard of an All-you-can-eat Convenience Store…

At the convenience store chain, Ministop, now you can buy a savory Japanese Okonomiyaki that you can casually eat with one hand.

Okonomiyaki is a Japanese dish (sometimes referred to as a Japanese savory pancake) that you cook on a hot griddle and eat with a lot of special Okonomiyaki sauce, fish flakes, mayonnaise, and green dried seaweed on top. It's tough to eat it with only one hand, but Ministop made it possible to do that with their newly released product called Tsukimi-yaki.

More spring seasonal drinks will be sold from March 19 to April 15.

The hot drink "Creamy Vanilla Latte with Lemony Swirl" and the cold drink "Creamy Vanilla Frappuccino with Lemony Swirl" will be available ONLY in Japan.

Japan is awesome especially when it comes to food, culture, entertainment, and of course, geeky techie things, however Japan is not awesome at all regarding the coffee situation. It is usually very bitter or extremely watered down and diluted. One of the most popular types is called "American" at a regular cafe. If you order this, you're basically getting bitter coffee diluted with hot water.

Cold soba noodle is one of the most refreshing dishes to eat during the hot summer in Japan. But it's so good that it may be served too often in the same way and family members will eventually get really bored with it.

So, a famous blogger Miyachan invented a cold soba noodle dish that is cute and attractive to look at. It's a "TOTORO" Tororo Soba - Studio Ghibli's TOTORO-shaped buckwheat soba noodle with tororo (grated gooey Nagaimo yam)!
