Sony - Full HD music video camera that records audio in uncompressed linear PCM


Sony just announced that they will release "Music Video Recorder (HDR-MV1)"  for about 30,000 yen on November 15.

This full HD (1920x1080/30p) compliant video camera is best suited for recording music performance and it is able to record audio in uncompressed linear PCM. When recording, you can select either linear PCM or AAC.  It has a 120-degree X-Y stereo microphone built-in to authentically record performances. But this is a dedicated video camera and is not capable of taking still images.

Since it has Wi-Fi and NFC ability, you can post fresh videos you have just taken on SNS services such as Youtube.

1/2.3 Exmor R CMOS image sensor and Carl Zeiss Tessar lens F2.8 with total pixels 16.8 million, effective pixels 8.4 million (16:9) built-in. 2.7inch monitor (0.23 million dots) at the side is not movable.

Thanko released a palm-sized full HD drive recorder with a a 1.5-inch LCD display. It's a small device so that it is hardly noticeable in your front windshield view. It's able to shoot 1080p full HD video and shoot clear video in a dark place using the built-in 12 IR lights.

Canon is going to release a new compact HD video camera with improved auto focus function - EOS C100 Mark II - from their CINEMA EOS SYSTEM (cinema camera system) series in late December.

The price will be around 550,000 yen. The lens kit, which comes with an EF24-105mm F4 L IS USM lens, is also scheduled to be released for about 620,000 yen in early February.

New athletic model - Mitamanma Megane Goggles - from Thanko's miniature camera built-in glasses series called "Mitamanma Megane" - is out.

Sony is going to release a XAVC recording format compliant XDCAM video camera for professional use - PXW-X160 - on August 21. The estimated price is around ¥480,000.

SJCAM's Action Cam SJCAM SJ5000+ is now available at Ikeshop in Japan. It shoots a 1080p/60FPS footage at 30 meters below the surface of the sea and supports Wi-Fi. The SJ5000+ is a successor model to the previous SJ4000 Action CAM, which we reviewed last year.

A custom-design model of Panasonic's 4K 30p movie-shootable wearable camera HX-A500, in collaboration with the Japanese bag brand "master-piece", was unveiled.

The collaboration model has the "master-piece" original camouflage design print. An original cord cover comes with it, too.

JVC Kenwood is going to release new waterproof video camera "GZ-R70" with an optical 40X zoom lens covering focal lengths from 40.5 to 1990mm (35mm equivalent), from their Everio video camera series in late August.

The estimated price is ¥59,400.
