Top 20 Japanese restaurants overseas revealed!

We came across an interesting ranking of Japanese restaurants OUTSIDE of Japan, compiled from feedback on "Trip Advisor" over the past year.

As sushi and other Japanese food becomes more popular all over the world, what we would call high-end "foreign-style" sushi restaurants are gaining a lot of popularity. That "foreign-style" sushi is now making its way back to Japan and Japanese people here are curious to try it - things like spider roll, volcano roll, spicy tuna roll, etc.

Have you ever been to one of them?

From Ezaki Glico's famous Pocky series, new Pocky Panda will be released on March 11.

Of course, it's not a panda flavored Pocky. It has a cookies & cream flavor and the contrast of the dark cookie and white cream reminds us of the color of pandas.

In addition to the regular package that has a panda design on, there seems to be a rare version of the package with a fluffy panda on it.

Can you tell the panda on the box at the right side is fluffy?

Calpis is a traditional Japanese soft drink, which probably all Japanese people have had at least once in their life and that most Japanese enjoy. It is also likely that most foreigners who have tried it do not particularly enjoy it.

It's a white, milky and acidic drink.

The fresher the soba noodle is, the better it tastes. Yet it's not easy to make good soba noodles at home unless you are a soba chef or have enough soba-making experience.

Japanese burger chain, LOTTERIA, is going to start selling Tsuke-pote (meaning "dipping"-"potato" in Japanese) on January 9th. Tsuke-pote is french fries with chocolate sauce for dipping. It will be sold for a limited time only from January 9th through mid February.

It probably tastes like chocolate covered pretzels or potato chips, but it should be a bit more greasy. Just by imagining its salty-sweet flavor, it makes my mouth water :)
