Sony - Lens-style digital camera, in the spotlight at IFA 2013, will be released on Oct 25

 

A week ago, Sony introduced the innovative Cyber Shot digital camera models "DSC-QX100" and "DSC-QX10" at IFA 2013, which look like an interchangeable lens and were designed for use with smartphones. Sony today announced that they will be released on October 25th in Japan.

The estimated prices are about ¥55,000 for the "DSC-QX100" high-end model with 20.2 mega pixels and ¥25,000 for the "DSC-QX10" high-powered model with optical 10X zoom.

Optional accessory products will be available on October 25th as well, including the attachment "SPA-ACX1" (¥3,255), which was designed only for Xperia Z, and a carrying case for "DSC-QX100" (¥3,780) and for "DSC-QX10" (¥3,255).

Canon is going to release the rugged compact digital camera PowerShot D30 for about ¥31,800 on March 13.

PowerShot D30 has waterproof protection that works at 25 meters below the surface of the sea and is shockproof up to 2 meters. It supports GPS functions, but not Wi-Fi.

It features an effective 12.1MP 1/2.3 inch CMOS sensor, optical 5X lens that covers a focal distance of 28 to 140mm (35mm equivalent), wide-open aperture F3.9-F4.8, ISO 100-3200, and 3 inch TFT LCD monitor (0.46M dots).

Since Canon's first digital camera EOS DCS 3 was released in 1995, the total production of Canon's digital cameras, including compact digital cameras and digital cameras with interchangeable lenses, finally marked 250,000,000 as of January 31, 2014.

Nikon is going to release a simple-looking compact digital camera COOLPIX P340 for about ¥45,000 on January 27.

COOLPIX P340 has an optical 5X zoom lens with a focal length of 5.1-25.5mm (equivalent to 24-120mm in 35mm format), 1/1.7 backlight CMOS sensor (effective 12.19 MP), 3-inch TFT LCD monitor (0.92M dots) and Wi-Fi function.

Black and white color models will be available.

Panasonic unveiled their new LUMIX mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera DMC-GH4 which is now displayed at CP+ 2014 currently taking place in Yokohama, Japan. It is the world's first MILC that is able to shoot 4K quality movies (Cinema 4K: 4096x2160 / 24 fps and QFHD 4K: 3840x2160 / up to 30 fps) in MOV/MP4.

From Canon's compact digital camera IXY series, the new IXY 130 will be released on August 7.

IXY 130 is only 22.1mm-thick. It features an optical 8X zoom lens covering a range of 28-224mm (35mm equivalent), and the Progressive Fine Zoom function allows you to shoot in 16X zoom.

There is an optical image stabilizer function called Multi Scene IS that detects scenes and offers the image stabilizing effect that is best for the scene.
 

Sony is going to release the new Cyber-shot DSC-HX400V for about ¥51,000 on April 4.

DSC-HX400V features an effective 20.4 MP 1/2.3 inch Exmor R CMOS sensor, image processor BIONZ X (same as the ones used for their mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera "α7" series), and optical 50X Carl Zeiss Vario-SonnarT* lens (equivalent to 24-1200mm in 35mm format). It also has GPS, NFC and Wi-Fi functions, Multi Interface Shoe (MIS) and 0.2 inch electric view finder (20.1M dots) and tiltable 3-inch LCD monitor (0.92M dots).

Olympus is going to release STYLUS SH-1 for about ¥40,000 from its compact digital camera "OLYMPUS STYLUS" series in late April.

The new STYLUS SH-1 has an exterior design similar to that of Olympus's popular mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera series OLYMPUS PEN.

Ricoh Imaging announced that they will bring their new medium format DSLR camera PENTAX 645Z to the market for ¥860,000 in late June. It was displayed as "PENTAX 645D 2014" at CP+2014 that was held in Yokohama in February.

Ricoh Imaging sent out a press release to announce that the release date of their popular upcoming PENTAX K-3 Prestige Edition is changed to August 29. It was originally announced to be out on August 8.

The date change happened due to a procurement delay of the product's parts.

Nikon announced the release of their new digital single lens reflex camera D810. It will be out on sale for 348,300 yen in mid July.

Also, the lens kit (D810 24-85 VR Lens Kit), which comes with the D810 camera and the AF-S NIKKOR 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5G ED VR lens, will be available for 405,000 yen on the same day.

Canon is going to release the new PowerShot digital camera - PowerShot SX400 IS - on August 7.

PowerShot SX400 IS has an optical 30X zoom lens covering a range of 24-720mm (35mm equivalent). By simultaneously using a digital zoom function "Progressive Fine Zoom", it boosts its zoom up to 60X and keeps its high-resolution. It also has DIGIC 4+ image processor and brings 0.19 seconds ultra-fast auto focus and 0.22 seconds release time lag.

Olympus just announced that they are going to release a compact digital camera specialized for taking photos at construction sites - OLYMPUS STYLUS TG-3 工一郎 (pronounced as Koichiro in Japanese) - sometime in July.

Ricoh Imaging unveiled their new medium format camera "PENTAX 645Z" last month. Today they announced that they are going to release it on June 27.

The estimated price is 864,000 yen. The price seems reasonable when compared to other products with the same image sensor.
