The world's first robot astronaut KIROBO talks in space

Humanoid robot astronaut KIROBO successfully talked for the first time as a robot at ISS (International Space Station).

Kirobo is a robot jointly-developed through KIBO ROBOT PROJECT by the Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology, the University of Tokyo, ROBO GARAGE Co., Ltd., Dentsu Inc., and Toyota Motor Corporation.

Kirobo was sent to space by a cargo spacecraft, Konotiri,in the H-IIB rocket which was launched from the Tanegashima Space Center in the southern part of Japan and it arrived at ISS on August 10.

JAXA's Japanese astronaut Koichi Wakata plans to stay in ISS for a long time period after November. He and Kirobo are going to conduct a conversational experiment together.
