Wacom releases new lineup of Intuos and Intuos Pro pen tablets

Wacom has released a new lineup of its Intuos series of pen tablets.

Starting with this new range of products, Wacom is also unifying its brands. The new products will be available in two versions: A professional range, the Intuos Pro, with 2,048 levels of pen pressure and angle sensitivity, and an entry-level range, the Intuous, with 1,024 sensitivity levels.

"We've reconfigured this brand to cover a wide range of customers, including those who've been using Bamboo tablets. Also, the biggest change is that the Intuos brand now offers a total solution, which even provides an environment for creative work on the iPad."

"We're confident that the Intuous Pro is a creative tool for professional creators who can't get by with compromises. Basically, it inherits the Intuos 5 specs, while providing even better ergonomic design and lower power consumption, as well as wireless support."

"The standard Intuous line is intended for people who've been using our previous Bamboo tablets. But the design is even more sophisticated, as we've made the device itself even smaller, while keeping the drawing space the same. So, these models are even easier to use. They're also designed for wireless connection, so users can work anywhere. In that regard, we think these tablets are really convenient."

The Intuos Creative Stylus, which gives 2,048 pressure sensitivity levels on the iPad, will also remain part of the Intuos series.

"Previously, if you tried to be creative on an iPad, you couldn't get enough pen pressure, so all you could do was rough things out. But lots of creators have an iPad, so there was a huge need to create a drawing environment with the iPad. What we did was combine pen-pressure response technology with the Bamboo Stylus for the iPad. We're proud of the result, which we've fine-tuned to enable creative work on the iPad."
