Nikon - LD-1000 Compact LED Light for Nikon 1 and COOLPIX

Nikon has announced the release of the LD-1000 LED light which can be attached to Nikon 1 cameras with interchangeable lenses and COOLPIX compact digital cameras.
The LED window features a diffusion panel that diffuses light to make it soft, clear and consistent. It also enables texturing and is good for minimizing glare off of highly reflective surfaces and for close-range photography.
The light given by LD-1000 is continuous lighting, as opposed to momentary light as with a conventional camera flash. This allows users to see the light effect on subjects before shooting. It is also a great additional light source during movie recording.
Nikon also notes that not only can the shooting angle be adjusted while the light is mounted on the bracket, the bracket can be removed and the LED light can be handheld in order to change the light angle and vary the amount and distance of the light on a subject. This allows for various natural renderings and possible 3-dimensional feel.
There is a single power switch on the back of the unit, and output can be adjusted to two levels.
It is available in white and black.
Release date will be sometime in October, 2013 and price will be ¥10,000.
