Panasonic - LUMIX DMC-GX7 - High-end mirror-less camera with tillable EVF

 

August 1, 2013, Panasonic has revealed their new mirror-less camera "LUMIX DMC-GX7". It features an electronic view finder (EVF) that is capable of tilting in the range of 90 degrees upward for the first time. The finder has high definition 2.76 million dots which is the highest in any other existing digital single-lens reflex camera.

The camera is around ¥105,000, and the lens kit (GX7 and pancake lens "LUMIX G 20mm/F1.7 II ASPH.") is around ¥130,000. Both are scheduled to be available on September 12, 2013.

For the first time in the series, it is equipped with a sensor-shift image stabilization system that is built inside of the camera body. Until now, Panasonic had adopted a lens-shift image stabilization system and the correction did not work with non-compatible lenses, however, because GX7 has the system in its body, the correction is able to work with any lens that you have.

Image quality and shooting performance have been increased. Image sensor was changed to the new-generation type to make some improvements on noise performance and collection efficiency. It's compatible with the high-speed shutter of 1/8000 second for the first time.

Pancake lens "LUMIX G 20mm/F1.7 II ASPH." comes with the lens kit. It weights 87g which is about 13% lighter than previous models.

Nikon has just revealed that their new flagship Nikon FX format digital single-lens reflex camera Nikon D4S will be out on March 6.

Based on the previous model D4, the new flagship D4S has improved auto focus performance, image quality, operability, etc.

D4S features the image processor EXPEED 4, effective 16.23MP Nikon FX format CMOS sensor, ISO 100-25600, improved auto white balance performance, and 3.2-inch LCD monitor (0.92M dots).

 

Panasonic has announced the Lumix GM, an ultra compact 16MP Micro Four Thirds camera, which will be released in Japan in late November.

"This camera uses the same sensor and engine as the GX7 which was released last month. The GX' features extremely high image quality and has received various awards around the world. We have packed the high image quality of the GX7 into this camera."

Ricoh Imaging received the "BEST DSLR EXPERT" award for their PENTAX K-3 at the 2014 TIPA Photo & Imaging Awards. To celebrate, they announced the release of this special edition model - PENTAX K-3 Prestige Edition.

Thanko released a finger authentication mini camera for those who are very sensitive about protecting the privacy of their photos and videos.

The body is smaller than palm-size (91.2x34x12.8mm, 37g), but the camera is able to shoot photos and videos in reasonably good quality (Photo: 1600x1200, 2MP - up to 40,000 pictures; Video: 640x480, 30fps - up to 300 minutes) or work as a voice recorder for a maximum of 960 minutes. It's also usable as an 8GB built-in flash memory, and a 32GB microSD card can be used when you need additional capacity.

Ricoh Imaging announced the release of a new single‐lens reflex camera, PENTAX K-S1. It will be out for sale on September 19.

PENTAX K-S1 is a compact standard model and designed for young people just becoming interested in cameras. However, the specs are nearly as good as the flagship models and the innovative LED body light is interesting.

Nikon is going to release the D7100 18-300 VR Super Zoom Kit on April 24 that comes bundled with Nikon's flagship single-lens-reflex camera D7100 and the new high-power zoom lens "AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3G ED VR".

The price will be about ¥213,300.

Canon changed the release day of their new DSLR - EOS 7D Mark II - to October 30. They originally planned to release it in early November.
